He either likes you or is a very affectionate person in general. If the latter was the case, I'd have trouble explaining why he decided to go find some other guy after you tried to date a girl. I think at this point, you have nothing really to lose, unless you think he might be phobic and spread it around school, so you might as well just come out to him. Don't corner him and kiss him--if he's not into you that way it could have some seriously negative implications for your relationship. Just ask him if you two can talk for a bit, go find somewhere that you're alone, and tell him that you're gay. See how he responds. If it's a positive reaction, tell him that you're a bit jealous of his new friend because you kind of like him. If he responds negatively, obviously you don't want to tell him about your feelings.
