What does it take to raise a goat?

Well I'm wondering what it would take to raise just one goat, because I am thinking of possibly owning one in a few years. Obviously it would need grazing area, medical attention, play areas, etc, but if you could give me the specifics, that would be great. Also, do you need special permits? Thanks so much!
