Are you in love with your horse?

I have a mare due in June and I really want to see her give birth. I feel that I have a good bond with her. I sometimes feel that its stronger then with any dog that I have. When I go to the pasture to see her she will look up and come strutting along to meet me at the fence. When I visit with her I feel like my stress goes away. At times I will go out and see her in the dead of night with the moon and just sit and watch her graze or brush her down. My wife thinks that i'm going overboard. I want to know if this is common? I have never rode her just cause when I got her she was green broke and I'm working with her on the ground work to make sure she understands. She has changes her attitude because when we got her I had to take a feed bucket to catch her. Now i can walk to the gate and she comes. She also will let me put harness with no problem. Is this common. Im working with her on the Parelli courses. Some people tell me not to be a horse hugger, just get on and make them work. is this common?
